There are some huge A-holes in the St Maarten Police Dept, but most are cool. The photos above are some of the friendlier officers you find mostly in Philipsburg, dealing with the tourist etc. The guys above are always friendly and professional to my knowledge. There are some officers, Pieter De Witte DARE not send to deal with the tourist, after all this is the “friendly island”. Occasionally visitors have to visit to police dept. to file a complaint. THEN tourist see some real SXM police. The ones they keep behind locked doors, and a glass screen at the police station.
