Criminal investigation against police officer

The Police Internal Affairs and Juvenile Department in collaboration with the Public Prosecutors Office is presently conducting a criminal investigation against a police officer/CPO J. Statie for allegedly committing an immoral offense.

At present the officer in question has been suspended and denied access to all buildings occupied by the Police Department. The area which is the area assigned to the CPO under investigation, will be taken care of by the other CPO’s.

This investigation is quite sensitive and no further comments or reports will be given at this time regarding this case until the investigation has concluded.

Reliable sources is telling us that the officer in question is reported to have committed pedifile acts a number of years ago.It is said that he impregnated a school going child a number of years ago, recently he is suspected of engaging in sexual activity with a 13 year old in Dutch Quarter and more recently he is accused of making sexual advances towards the children of his female partner.

PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten – The body of a Michael Carty who reportedly tried to rob the occupants of a home in Oyster Pond has been released to the family.

The body was initially confiscated in-order for the authorities to conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

Carty was killed by his victims who defended themselves against the attack of Carty and two others who managed to getaway in a car bearing French number plates, headed towards the French side of the island.

No information has been reported by the police updating the status of the investigation.It is still not know if the police managed to arrest the other robbers who fled the robbery scene leaving Carty behind.

The victims, American tourist have not been arrested, an indication that it is not considered that they committed a crime while defending themselves against the robbers.

Court hearing regarding Election fraudThe Prosecutors Services has decided to submit the investigation “Masbangu” to the judge.

The Court hearing will take place on February 17, 2014, from 1.30pm in the Courthouse of Sint Maarten.

The investigation concerns possible irregularities in the first elections of the country Sint Maarten on September 17, 2010.

The Landsrecherche completed the investigation on February 14, 2013.Four (former) officials from the (then) Korps Politie Sint Maarten, Sint Eustatius and Saba are summoned.

They are suspected of voting for the United People Party (UP) in exchange for money, or trying to receive money for their vote.

A representative of the UP, suspect R.H., will be in trial as well. He is accused of giving money to those police-officials in exchange for their votes.

Stembusfraude zaak naar zitting

Op 17 februari 2014 vanaf 13.30 uur zal in het Gerecht te Sint Maarten het onderzoek met de naam “Masbangu” aan de rechter worden voorgelegd.

Dit onderzoek heeft betrekking op mogelijke onregelmatigheden die zouden hebben plaatsgevonden bij de eerste verkiezingen van het Land Sint Maarten op 17 september 2010.De landsrecherche heeft het onderzoek verricht en op 14 februari 2013 afgerond.

Gedagvaard voor de zitting is een viertal (voormalige) functionarissen van het toenmalige Korps Politie Sint Maarten, Sint Eustatius en Saba.

Zij worden ervan verdacht in ruil voor geld hun stem te hebben uitgebracht op de United People Party (UP), dan wel een poging te hebben ondernomen om geld te krijgen in ruil voor hun stem.

Ook een vertegenwoordiger van de UP, verdachte R.H., zal terecht staan. Hem wordt verweten geld te hebben gegeven aan de betreffende politiefunctionarissen.
