MARIGOT–An argument between two men in a bar in Sandy Ground late Friday night led to one of the two being shot to death, the Gendarmerie confirmed on Sunday.
The incident occurred on the same evening as President François Hollande’s visit to Marigot and one hour after his party had departed the island for Martinique.
Commandant Paul Betaille said one man had pulled out a gun and shot his adversary several times as tension mounted during the argument.
Friends of the victim took him to hospital immediately but he died one hour later. Detectives are investigating the fatal shooting.
This was the third homicide since the beginning of the year following the murder in French Quarter on Coralita Road and the Pierre Beauperthuy murder. Commandant Betaille said still no suspects had been apprehended or charged as yet in those cases, but the investigations continued.
