Attorney General Taco Stein confirmed on Tuesday that the three prisoners that escaped from the prison cells located at the back of the Philipsburg Police Station on Sunday June 23rd, 2013 have not been recaptured. Stein said that the police did not get any leads from the public to assist them with recapturing the escapees. He said the Justice Department offered a reward of $15,000.00 for any information that would lead them to the escaped prisoners but that also did not lead to any fruitful tip. Stein said that they are of the opinion that the three suspects left the island already.
In reaction to a question posed by SMN News regarding the investigation that is being conducted by the Landsrecherche on how the prisoners managed to escape from the prison cells that is located behind the Police Station, Stein said he still did not get the report from the investigators. When asked if he had any indication that would lead him to believe that the escapees got inside help in order to escape, Stein said he has absolutely no indication on that and he is not even sure when he will get the report on the ongoing investigation.
