Sint Maarten extends lockdown
Philipsburg: On Sint Maarten, the government lockdown has been extended by three weeks. The measure was instituted on April 5, originally for a period of fourteen days, to prevent further spread of the coronavirus.
Currently, 63 infections are registered, nine people have died. The government now allows supermarkets to be open three times a week. Essential companies are also allowed to open under certain conditions. Only one person per household is allowed to go shopping on the street.

  1. Good day all,
In the wake of this on going COVID-19 virus, I wish to applaud the efforts of the many committed essential stakeholders may you be protected out there. As a professional with a wide range of knowledge and expertise in law enforcement. There still remains a desperate need for the establishment of a Taskforce being an elite group attached to the Police Force. You may wish to consider this. Crime is a business, unless we do not address and revisit the “Use of Force Policy” we will continue to have our civilians, business owners, and the entire country as a whole being affected by strategic gang related crimes. There is an urgent need for a Force Science Academy here on this island. I truly believe that our Prime minister, the Minister for Justice have been stretched in dealing with everything affecting this lovely country. It is time to lend a hand support this government, support the law enforcement agencies and open up to exchange programmes for the further development of this country.

  2. There is always corruption in St, Maarten nothing new. When other countries were turning away cruise ship, the leaders of the island nevet think twice about landing passengers leaving their citizens vulnerable.
