April 6, 2021 On Tuesday, April 6, the Senate debated with State Secretary Knops of the Interior and Kingdom Relations about the government’s policy with regard to relations with the countries and municipalities in the Caribbean part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The basis for the debate is formed by the budget statements of Kingdom Relations and the BES fund for 2021 .

According to the St. John’s Airport Authority, the flight travelling from Paris to St. Maarten, a Caribbean island part of the Netherlands, landed in St. John’s just before 4:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. The plane was carrying 120 passengers and 10 crew members.VIDEO: . JOHN’S INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

At the end of 2020, an agreement was reached with the autonomous countries Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten (hereinafter: the countries) regarding the country packages, in which reforms were agreed. This with the aim of strengthening the financial, economic, institutional and social resilience of the countries in such a way that the countries will be better able to independently absorb external shocks, such as the current COVID-19 pandemic, in the future. As a condition for receiving the necessary liquidity support for the countries, Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten must implement these reforms.

Four Bids received for Airport Terminal Reconstruction Project on March 23, 2021

There was widespread interest by international companies with submissions in the range between US $70m through US $99m. Reportedly, a sum of four (4) major bids has been submitted to the Project Management Unit (PMU), who respectfully presides over the entire Airport project. The companies included CCECC (Singapore), Ballast Nedam International (Netherlands), Cotton Global Solutions (United States), and Aecon Airport Construction Ltd (Canada).

U.S. Consular Officer to Hold Appointments in Sint Maarten on February 2, 2021

The U.S. Consulate General Curaçao is pleased to announce that a Consular Officer will visit Sint Maarten on February 2, 2021. Appointments will be held at Government Building at Soualiga Road#1. Conference room #1 on the ground floor from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm. The officer will provide U.S. Citizens Services and accept applications for U.S. passports, Consular Reports of Birth Abroad (CRBA), and Notarial Services. Unfortunately, we are not able to discuss visa cases during these outreach trips.
