Prime Minister William Marlin (seated left) returned home from the Dominican Republic last Monday having signed a Memorandum of Understanding with that country on 15 points of cooperation including commerce, education, health, regional security, trans-shipment and tourism. Signing for the Dominican Republic was Minister of Foreign Affairs Miguel Vargas (seated right). Signing on behalf of Curaçao was Minister for Economic Development Eugene Rhuggenaat and Dutch Ambassador tothe Dominican Republic Marijke van Druinen-Littel for the Netherlands and Aruba.
The MOU comes after nearly three years of discussions initiated back in 2014 by President Danilo Medina and the Governments of the countries within the Kingdom. Marlin said noted that the agreement represents more than what is written, transcends political desire and ultimately moves us towards our common goal, the unification of the Greater Caribbean.
