Willemstad – The Royal Netherlands Marechaussees searchef Friday in Den Helder, under the leadership of the Public Prosecution Service East Netherlands, the Zr. Ms Johan de Witt in the context of a drug investigation.
The ship returned from the Caribbean on Thursday. As is known, a Dutch soldier was detained aboard the ship on 24 September with drugs in his backpack. After weighing it turned out to be about 11 kilos presumably cocaine. The soldier has been transferred to the Netherlands and is still in custody.
As part of the investigation, a search is being carried out on the Zr on Friday. Ms Johann de Witt. Customs assists the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee with staff and drug dogs.
Thursday morning three helicopters, who were aboard the ship and flew back to their base on Thursday morning, were searched. The ship’s personnel were also checked on Thursday evening when they left the ship. Nothing was found.
