The Netherlands is phasing out staff support for hospitals in Curaçao and Sint Maarten
THE HAGUE The Netherlands is phasing out personnel support to the hospitals of Curaçao and Sint Maarten. This is reported by the Dutch Minister of Health Ernst Kuipers in a letter about the state of affairs to the House of Representatives.
The American medical employment agency AMI stepped in in December when the omikron variant emerged. The Netherlands pays for the extra support to the hospitals. Kuipers writes that the number of active infections on the islands is decreasing. Especially in Sint Maarten, help was urgently needed because many healthcare staff got corona themselves. The Netherlands also pays for the booster campaigns and the so-called intricate campaigns on Curaçao and Aruba. So don’t boost in large injection locations, but rather in community centers, churches and other trusted places in neighborhoods where the vaccination rate is still low.

DEN HAAG Nederland bouwt de personele steun aan de ziekenhuizen van Curaçao en Sint Maarten af. Dat meldt de Nederlandse minister van Volksgezondheid Ernst Kuipers in een brief over de stand van zaken aan de Tweede Kamer.
Het Amerikaanse medische uitzendbureau AMI sprong in december bij toen de omikron-variant opkwam. Nederland betaalt voor de extra ondersteuning aan de ziekenhuizen. Kuipers schrijft dat het aantal actieve besmettingen op de eilanden daalt. Vooral in Sint Maarten was de hulp dringend nodig omdat veel zorgpersoneel zelf corona kreeg. Nederland betaalt op Curaçao en Aruba ook de boostercampagnes en de zogenaamde fijnmazige campagnes. Dus niet boosteren in grote priklocaties, maar juist in buurthuizen, kerken en andere vertrouwde plekken in de wijken waar de vaccinatiegraad nog laag is.
