United States citizen Christina Michelle Mullin (40) committed suicide aboard Carnival Dream cruise ship on Tuesday, July 16.
The incident had taken place in one of the cabins on deck two of the ship. The captain of the ship stated that shortly after leaving the port of St. Thomas on Tuesday, July 16th, with destination St. Maarten, he received a report of the incident.
The victim was on the cruise with other family members. However, when the family members were not in the cabin, she took her own life by hanging herself. Dr. Mike Mercuur confirmed that the victim died by hanging.
Police spokesperson Ricardo Henson said the reason why the victim took her own life was still unclear. He said, however, that investigation will be done by the US authorities once the ships docks at the nearest US port.
Henson said the Central Police Dispatch sent a police patrol, detectives and the Forensic Department to investigate a case when the ship was docked at Dr. A.C. Wathey Cruise and Cargo Facilities. On board detectives spoke to the ship’s authorities and the ship doctor.
