ATTACKS AGAINST FOOD DELIVERY DRIVERS SINT MAARTEN “Violence against food parcel deliverers is unacceptable” ANP
The Prime Minister of Sint Maarten, Silveria Jacobs, condemns the violence used against food parcel deliverers on her island. According to her, some delivery drivers have been threatened by young people.
677 food parcels were distributed on Sint Maarten until Friday. 400 more packages will be delivered during the weekend. Jacobs calls on the population to treat the deliverers with respect.
According to her, the government helps everyone who needs it. There are also several companies and restaurants on the island that donate food to people in need. She called on the population to be careful nevertheless to open the door to strangers.
Fifty infections with the corona virus have been registered on the island, nine people have died.
