PHILIPSBURG:—- Well-known Naturalist, Birder and Photographer Binkie van Es has joined the Board of Local Conservation Management Organization the Sint Maarten Nature Foundation during a recent Board Meeting. Van Es is well-known for being a passionate birder and photographer and educator on the importance of conserving and protecting bird species on the island. “” We are delighted to have an expert like Binkie joining our Board of Directors and look forward to working together for a great improvement of the conservation of bird species and the raising of Public Awareness in this field,” commented Jan Beaujon, Chairman of the Board of the Sint Maarten Nature Foundation.
The Board of the Sint Maarten Nature Foundation is comprised of individuals from the local community who are focused on environmental preservation. Van Es will be joining Board Member and retired Managing Director of the Windward Islands Bank and Member of the Council of Advice Jan Beaujon, Businesswoman and Philanthropist Marie-Louise Carty, retired teacher and horticulturalist Frank Boekhout, Marine Biologist and Aquaculturalist Rikke Speetjens, Marine Industry Professional Jesse Peterson and Lawyer and Dive Professional Lucas Berman. The Foundation is supported by three staff: Manager Tadzio Bervoets, Office Manager Marisa Dyer-Brandy and Chief Ranger Etienne Lake. The Nature Foundation is tasked with the management and conservation of Sint Maarten’s Marine and Terrestrial Environments and is a member of the Dutch Caribbean Nature Alliance.
