The Gendarmerie is calling on persons who witnessed the murder that took place on July 20th, 2013 in the vicinity of Bamboo Vert (Green Bamboo) bar to come forward as witnesses. A press release from the Gendarmerie states that around 7:30am on July 20th a fight broke out between two men which escalated. One of the victims jumped into the Sandy Ground canal to save his life but the other one followed him and he was dealt several stab wounds causing his death. The Gendarmes in their plea said that anyone who was at the Bamboo Vert that morning or on the street where the incident occurred should make contact with the Brigade du Research of St. Martin. Persons that have information can call the landline of the Gendarmerie “17” or 0590 52 30 10. Persons that have information and want to give that information on the condition of anonymity will also be accommodated.
SMN News learnt that the 35 year old man that is in custody for the brutal murder dealt his victim five stab wounds to his back and he is now claiming self defense. The victim was killed in the water where he sought to run from the man he was having an argument with but that did not help him. The suspect waited on the Gendarmes after murdering the other man with whom he was arguing.
