INVESTIGATION: Reports of sexual misconduct officer of naval vessel Karel Doorman. The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee is investigating a moral incident that allegedly occurred on board Zr. Ms. Karel Doorman. A report was made to a naval officer.
More charges were brought in during the investigation, including because of previous sexually oriented misconduct. This is confirmed by a spokesman for the military police in response to a report in De Telegraaf .
“It concerns multiple declarations. We have been on board to record statements. We are now going to investigate what exactly happened,” said the spokesman.
Corona help
The supply and support vessel has been in the Caribbean for corona assistance since the beginning of last month. Sources on board tell De Telegraaf that a male officer would have assaulted a sailor last weekend. He decided to report it.
Two Marechaussee officers then boarded an investigation and recorded statements. Their presence prompted two other sailors to file a report as well. The officer in question has now disembarked.
