In the first half of 2022 it became clear that the construction industry will be hit by the global inflation and production chain crisis. I informed you about this in my letter of 10 June 2022 (Katue.t.SLuk-3.4-Z.1Xnt.26) and indicated that I would inform you further about this in the 2022 half-yearly report. During the recent steering group meeting of the trust fund at the end of November/beoin December 2022, the Netherlands indicated that it would make a one-off extra million euros to the Trust Fund for the reconstruction of Sint Maarten so that the new hospital in Sint Maarten can be completed. As a result, there is no need to cut back on other reconstruction projects of the trust’ondS and the important reconstruction of Sint Maarten remains on schedule. In addition to this extra contribution from the Netherlands via the trust fund, the hospital’s other financiers are also making extra investments so that the project can be realised.
The support from the Netherlands to the Sint Maarten reconstruction trust fund for the hospital is a one-off exception and no rights can be derived from this support. Incidentally, it is possible that reconstruction projects will be affected in the future by the consequences of the global inflation and production chain crisis and other events. It is then up to the World Bank, as manager of the trust fund Orn, to find possible solutions in consultation with the Sender call of the trustfonas.

In de eerste helft van 2022 werd duidelijk de bouw viri het nieuwe tiekenhuls geraakt wordt door de wereldwijde inflatie- en prodœctieketencrisis. Ik heb u hierover geinforrneerd in mijn brie’ van 10 juni 2022 (Katue.t.SLuk-3.4-Z.1Xnt.26) en aangegeven dat ik u bij de halfjaarrapportage 2022 nader hierover zou informeren. Tijdens de recente stuurqroepverqadering van het trustfonds eind november/beoin december 2022 t•eett Nederland aangegeven eenmalig miljoen euro extra bij te dragen aan het Trustfonds wederopbouw Sint Maarten zodat het nieuwe ziekenhuis in Sint Maarten kan worden Opgeleverd. Hierdoor is er geen noodzaak om te bezuinigen op andere wederopbouwprojecten van het trust’ondS en blijft de Zo belangrijke wederopbouw van Sint Maarten op schema. Naast deze extra inbreng van Nederland via het trustfonds doen ook de overige financiers van het ziekenhuis extra investeringen zodat het project gerealiseerd kan worden.
0e steun vanuit Nederland aan het trustfond’ wederopbouw Sint Maarten voor het ziekenhuis is een eenmalige uitzondering en aan deze Steun kunnen geen rechten worden ontleend. Overigens is het mogelijk dat er in de toekomst wederopbouwprojecten getroffen worden door de uitvloeiselen van de wereldwijde inflatie- en productieketencr•sis e’»/ot andere gebeurtenissen, Het is dan aan de Wereldbank als manager van het trustfonds Orn eventuele oplossingen te vinden in overleg met de Stuu r9roep van het trustfonas.
