PHILIPSBURG:— Murder convict Devon Otto who is currently serving a 30 year prison sentence at Point Blanche prison was attacked on Saturday morning. According to information reaching SMN News, Otto received multiple stab wounds. He is in critical condition at the Sint Maarten Medical Center. Police arrested two suspects who they believe were involved in a fight with Otto. An investigation is currently ongoing.
This incident took place shortly before Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte and his delegation visited the prison. SMN News will bring you more information later today when the prison management or police makes an official statement on the incident involving Otto.
This is the fourth prison fight that has prisoners injured and there has never been an official statement from Prison Director Edward Rohan. Just three weeks ago three prisoners escaped from the prison cells located behind the Philipsburg Police Station and an investigation into the escape is currently underway.
