From 29 May, all boats registered in Saint-Martin or whose home port is Saint-Martin are allowed to sail. These are water sports enthusiasts who live on their sailing boats, private individuals who own a motor boat or jet ski and use them both for leisure and professionals (day charters, etc.).
However, they may not sail further than 3 nautical miles. A new prefectural decree that removes this limitation is being published today. It is therefore possible to go from Saint-Martin to Saint-Barth and anchor there.
The measure of fourteen will also be lifted, as will air transport between the islands of the French Antilles.
The new prefecture decree also authorizes boats registered in Sint Maarten to sail in French waters, with the exception of commercially operated ships; therefore it concerns only sailing or private navigation. Other boats are prohibited in the waters of Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy until a health protocol is signed between the prefecture and the government of Saint Martin.
