Octopus investigation suspended indefinitely
The preliminary hearing in the Octopus investigation has been suspended indefinitely and partially referred back to the investigative judge by the Court of First Instance of St. Maarten on Thursday, October 13. It was the second time the preliminary hearing was suspended. The suspects S.J.M. and R.G.K. did not appear in court today nor did their lawyers. The three other suspects W.F.B., E.E.L.F. and F.L.A. were present together with their lawyers who submitted requests for additional investigation to take place. It was requested to hear three additional witnesses and also to listen to wire tapped telephone conversations. The Prosecutor’s Office did not oppose to this request and the judge granted the request. A request of the lawyers to also receive the dossier of two other ongoing investigations was denied.
