POINTE BLANCHE–Customs Officers confiscated 1,000 kilos of marijuana on Sunday evening from a container that arrived in the country from Jamaica, a press release from the Customs Department confirmed.
The Daily Herald reported in yesterday’s paper that the drugs were found in the harbour on Sunday night.
“The drugs were found after a regular check on containers entering the harbour,” the Customs press release stated. Head of Customs Anthony Doran said the marijuana was in bags and was visible as soon as the container was opened.
Police authorities and Customs are conducting an intense investigation to determine who the marijuana belongs to. No arrests have been made as yet. Due to the ongoing investigation, the Customs Department could not release any further information.
