Hi Judith,

Thank you for sending me your e mail.
I have a big problem with Government ( Minister of Economic Affairs).

In the letters you will read what I am talking about, once your finished please contact me via my e mail
to see if there is any way you can help me with this problem ok.

This is a short version :
I applied and received a license for TV Bingo from the previous Government.
I though introducing this game on TV would be a great way of socializing inside the house, with family and friends ext,
because you know how dangerous St.Maarten has become and also the fact that we don’t have much to do on the Island.
Bingo is a game played by young and old could be played this way thru TV, in the old people home hospital exT.

I received my license on September 2015 and I paid the pick up fee, which is the amount of Naf 10.000, but as you may know that this license
or business comes with a big investment not to forget that you have to pay a monthly fee of Naf 10.000 which was never told to me, But it’s ok.
I wrote to the tax office to grand me some time to start paying the taxes. That was ok.

Once I received my license I had to go to the Notary to make an N.V and as we all know this can take up to 6 months before you get your license, also I needed to go to the lawyer to get all necessary documents legalized. All this takes time allot of time, it can take up to six months before all the legal paper work is done, this is why I made a request by the tax office for some time before having to pay tax.

After 3 months I received the news that I am in red by the tax office (Naf 30.000 ) for not paying the monthly fee the same monthly fee
I knew nothing about until I received my contract.
This is when I wrote a letters to the Minister, and once my letter was inside the cabinet I was contacted by Mr.Alex Dijkhofz.

Mr. Dijkhofz asked me to meet with him because he needed to speak to me, and that it will only take 10 minutes, I did not know Mr.Dijkhofz worked
in the same Kabinet of the Minister involved.
He told me that he knows I am having problems paying the tv bingo fees, and that he has someone to purchase this license, I was totally thrown off guard
my question to myself was whyyyy or whats happening, so I told him no I will get back to him.

I never did but a couple of weeks after this conversation I received a letter from the Minister that she revoked my license while my request was not to cancel my license but to give me a couple of months tax brake to finalize my project. If the casinos and hotels can get tax brake of 10 years why can’t I get one of 6 months ?

I think it’s a big injustice that the Minister took my license away without any options because my request was not to loose my license but to give me
a brake for a few months.
But she revoked it.
Now is it because Alex Dijkhofz who works in the same cabinet has a buyer one of his rich friends ? We all know who he hangs out with.
Is that the reason why I lost my license with the option to renew it when I am ready.
This means two things, one I will not get it again, and two I have to pay another Naf 10.000 to get it if it is granted to me, or maybe she will change all the rules ? It’s just not fair.
Alex made an mistake to ask me to sell my license because he was so greedy, then they realized I was not selling so they took it away from me.
Why did the Minister not give me the option to pay or run the risk to loose my license, or do like they do to every one else and grand me some time.

I am so tired of all the stories I hear in St.Maarten locals being scared to put any type of business into the Government office because you will have to deal with what I am dealing with at the moment.

I am not sure how you can help me with this issue, I just want the injustice to stop.
I included the letters sent to the Minister and the Parliament Building.
