WILLEMSTAD – On Thursday, a man and a woman were arrested on Curaçao on suspicion of human trafficking and human trafficking. The man is a detective of the National Criminal Investigation Department, a service that deals with offenses by civil servants in Curaçao.
A few house searches have already taken place in the case, as the Curaçao Public Prosecution Service (OM) has announced.
The man presumably committed the offenses outside of his work as a detective. But in order to guarantee the independence of the investigation, the National Criminal Investigation Department in St. Maarten directs the investigation.
