SYNOPSIS:
The southeast to southerly wind flow will persist for the next several days due the proximity of Tropical Storm Nicole to the Caribbean region. The resultant wind field will bring abundant moisture to the local region, along with steadily increasing instability at the upper levels of the atmosphere will raise the chances of shower activity during this forecast period. Therefore, expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies, isolated showers and a chance for isolated thunderstorms.
Seas will remain slight to moderate for the next few days.
STATE OF THE SEA: Slight to Moderate WAVES/SWELLS: 4 to 6 feet
SPECIAL FEATURE:
At 5pm, the center of Hurricane Matthew was located just off the coast of the Carolinas with maximum sustained winds near 75 mph.
At 5pm, the center of Tropical Storm Nicole was located about 495 miles north northwest of St. Maarten and moving slowly south-southwest. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 50 mph.
The Meteorological Department of St. Maarten will continue to monitor these systems.
