So, now the melee (redu or redaktie) if you speak Papiamentu has come out. Suspended head of the VDC (Secret Service) Michael Romer is alleged to have pulled a gun on a married woman that he was supposed to have been having an affair with. The wife of Alex Rosaria, a one Mrs Elvira Rosaria-Statia.

Mrs Rosaria-Statia came forward with a statement denying that she had gone to the police, but not denying the affair, or that there had been some type of incident or altercation.
Michael Romer, who is supposed to be tight with Gerrit Schotte, was suspended after someone filed criminal charges against him for pulling his gun on them. The OM (Openbaar Ministerie) Or Public Prosecutors’ Office issued an official statement concerning the matter.

The Statement was made by the head of the OM, The Attorney General.

According to the Attorney General, Michael Romer was not under an investigation, but their offices were actively involved in a ‘fact finding mission’ concerning the allegations against him, considering the importance of his position as head of the VDC (Secret Service).
Basically the Attorney General was saying that they were investigating whether there was cause or not to investigate Michael Romer….

The lawyers representing suspended head of the Curacao Intelligence Agency (VDC) Michael Römer, (Lawfirm Bertie Braam van Braam & Pols Advocaten), filed a defamation claim against a certain member of the media yesterday at the Public Prosecutor’s Office (OM) .

It is assumed to be the ‘journalist’ who first reported the claims world wide that Romer had threatened the wife of Alex Rosaria with a firearm after a failed affair. The female is then said to have gone to the police, but did not return. The report caused a storm of reactions.

Römer denies the incident. Yesterday Elvira Rosaria-Statia herself came forward with her own statement, saying that there never had been a threat with a firearm involved. She also claimed that she had not gone to the police.

According to sources, lawyer, Braam on behalf of his client also sent a letter to the government calling for the suspension which has officially been imposed to be voided. According to the OM (Openbaar Ministerie/Public Prosecutors’ Office) The fact finding investigation into the case by the Lands Recherche (Federal Investigators) continues.

Advocaat van geschorst hoofd VDC doet aangifte tegen mediaman wegens smaad

De advocaat van het geschorste hoofd van de Veiligheidsdienst Michael Römer, Bertie Braam van Braam & Pols Advocaten, heeft gisteren aangifte bij het Openbaar Ministerie (OM) gedaan wegens smaad tegen een persoon die aan de media verbonden is.

Dat is vermoedelijk degene die het eerst het bericht in de wereld bracht, dat Römer de vrouw van Alex Rosaria met een vuurwapen had bedreigd na een stukgelopen affaire. De vrouw zou daarna naar de politie zijn gestapt, maar geen aangifte hebben gedaan. Het bericht bracht een storm van reacties in de media teweeg.

Römer ontkent het incident. Gisteren kwam Elvira Rosaria Statia zelf al met een verklaring, dat er nooit van bedreiging met een vuurwapen sprake is geweest. Ze zou ook niet naar de politie zijn gegaan.

Volgens bronnen heeft advocaat Braam namens zijn cliënt ook een brief aan de regering gestuurd waarin wordt aangedrongen om de schorsing die van regeringswege is opgelegd ongedaan te maken. Het feitenonderzoek naar de zaak door de Landsrecherche gaat gewoon door, meldt het OM.
