BVI CUSTOMS OFFICERS SEIZE $360.000 FROM BOAT ARRIVING FROM ST MAARTEN

On Feb. 4, customs officers found $360,060 cash on a boat in the Port Purcell wharf that had arrived from St. Maarten, Customs Commissioner Wade Smith told the Beacon yesterday.

Mr. Smith said the money was stuffed inside a barrel containing assorted dry goods, and that it is currently “detained” by police and customs officers while investigations into the seized cash continue.

No arrests have yet been made in connection to this money, Mr. Smith said.
