Another New Hotel Is Coming to St Maarten

Another new hotel will soon be opening its doors in St Maarten, part of what is a surging pipeline of new hotels coming to the island.

The new Adonis Cupecoy is the latest outpost by Adonis Hotels and Residences, which has a broad portfolio of hotels in France.

The new 52-room hotel is set in the area of Cupecoy, close to the border with neighboring Saint Martin, perched between Porto Cupecoy and the Mullet Bay golf course.

The hotel, which will officially open in January 2020 (with a soft opening in December, according to the property’s Web site), has four different room categories, all of which feature “fantastic views” of the island, according to a statement.

“We are pleased to see new and varied accommodation options continuing to open on the island. St. Maarten as a tourism product continues to redevelop its product to be stronger and better,” said Stuart Johnson, St. Maarten’s Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport, and Telecommunication. “We look forward to continuing to welcome visitors to our Friendly Island with classic St Maarten warmth and hospitality, as we maintain the goal of sustainable redevelopment.”

Other amenities include a gym, a bar, a 60-person conference room and free Wi-Fi across the property.

A nice perk? Every guests receives a bottle of the island’s famous Guavaberry Rum.

It’s part of the hottest hotel pipeline in St Maarten and St Martin in years.

The Adonis comes as St Maarten will also be welcoming another new property to its shores, the highly-anticipated Morgan Resort, which will be opening soon in Simpson Bay.

In February, Apple Leisure Group’s AMResorts subsidiary will be opening a Secrets-branded resort on Anse Marcel.

Further down the line, Sunwing is opening a Planet Hollywood resort in Great Bay in St Maarten.

It’s all part of a full-fledged tourism renaissance for St Maarten, which is seeing booming arrival numbers so far in 2019.

“The opening of new hotel properties is further indication that our tourism sector is recovering strongly,” said St. Maarten’s Director of Tourism, May-ling Chun. “We want to keep reminding visitors that the island is open for business and we’re very pleased to provide our new and loyal visitors with an ever greater option of new accommodation options.”
