The key driver for the review for downgrade is the decision by the Netherlands, the sole funding source for Sint Maarten’s government, to withhold certain liquidity payments which in turn resulted in payment delays on bilateral loans owed to the Dutch Treasury. Vessel On Its Way To Virginia Via St Maarten Diverted Due To Engine Failure And Injured Crew

The 50ft French sailing vessel Buloo, with 2 POB, contacted Bermuda Radio as they were diverting to Bermuda on passage from Norfolk, Virginia to St Maarten. The vessel had suffered engine failure and one of the crew members had injured his ribs in a fall.
