The Minister of Health, Environment and Nature of Curacao, Zita Jesus Leito, the Minister of Tourism, Health and Sports of Aruba, Danguillaume Oduber, the Minister of Health, Social Development and Labor Affairs of Sint Maarten, Richard Panneflek and the State Secretary of Health, Welfare and Sport, Paul Blokhuis, formally approved the establishment of a cooperative between the hospital institutions on the islands of Curaçao, Aruba, Sint Maarten, Bonaire, Saba and Sint Eustatius on Tuesday 9 February, with the signing of a decision document.

The “Dutch Caribbean Hospital Alliance” (DCHA) will give shape in a cooperative form to the common goal of reducing vulnerability and dependence, but above all to be able to guarantee the continuity of specialist medical care in the future and the quality and availability of specialist medical care. care to increase where possible. The mission of the DCHA is: “To deliver the best possible medical care locally and regionally through an anchored cooperation between the countries within the Kingdom and strategic partners, whereby the well-being of our patients, the maintenance of a financially – economically healthy situation and ensuring our cultural values ​​come first. ”

The establishment of the cooperative is currently in a so-called ‘quartermaster phase’. The intention is that in the first quarter of this year the official go-ahead can be given for the hospital cooperative.

The ministers of the 4 countries of the Kingdom are confident that the intensification of cooperation between the hospitals will improve the quality and continuity of care for the inhabitants of the Caribbean part of the Kingdom.
