CAPTAIN OF CAPSIZED VESSEL TO FACE TEN YEARS IN GUADELOUPE PRISON

The captain of the vessel that capsized on Saturday June 30th 2013 between St Martin and Anguilla in the Anguilla Channel faces up to ten years in French prison. Of the 26 people on board the vessel, three drowned, three remain missing and twenty were rescued. Of the twenty rescued nine were sent to the Marigot hospital due to injuries. The captain, it has been surmized has been doing illegal trips from The Dominican Republic, to the American Virgin islands for some time. The charges he faces include, manslaughter, and abandoning the crew and passengers as the boat sank. The French Prosecutors office will be making more information available, as the proceedings go on.
