WITU president Claire Elshot is concerned about the non-renewal of the contracts of several teachers of several schools.
She said that four of the contracts had not been renewed becasue the teachers were on sick leave. Other were not renewed due to a rancge of other issues. The exact number of teachers whose contracts were not renewed could not be ascertained. She noted that there were a number of teachers whose status was in limbo, as they had not been told that they were being moved to different positions for the new academic year, but had not been given any information for the new assignments.
She continued that she was saddened by the issues that the teachers were facing, because they had worked hard during the years, especially those left with the challenge of finding their jobs in jeopardy or uncertain.
