Covid-19: The number of cases continues to climb in Sint Maarten!

In the past 72 hours, 41 new people have tested positive for Covid-19. This brings the total number of active cases identified in the Dutch part to 145 and to 1749 cases since the start of the epidemic.

The Collective Prevention Services (CPS) are monitoring 145 people placed in isolation at their homes, all showing suspicious symptoms linked to the coronavirus.

The total number of deaths linked to Covid-19 is 27.

The number of people healed since the first reported case has risen to 1577.

Otherwise, 271 other people are also under surveillance after they may have come into contact with an active case.

The dedicated team of the Ministry of Public Health, Social Development and Labor (VSA), in collaboration with the Health Care Laboratory Sint Maarten (HCLS), tested 2279 travelers arriving at Princess Juliana International Airport and 13533 people across the country.

“It is imperative to respect the mandatory regulations put in place”, constantly remind the health authorities, and to “scrupulously respect the rules of social distancing, especially in public places and avoid mass gatherings”.

It should be noted that failure to comply with these rules may force the Dutch authorities to adopt more restrictive measures.
