The government commissioner of St. Eustatius, Marnix van Rij, will resign his duties as government commissioner at his request with effect from 18 April next. He has accepted a position as interim party chairman of the CDA.
The two functions cannot be combined, given the great distance between the European Netherlands and St. Eustatius. The Deputy Government Commissioner Alida Francis will perform the duties of the Government Commissioner until the succession is provided. State Secretary Raymond Knops of the Interior and Kingdom Relations thanks Mr Van Rij for his commitment to St. Eustatius since his appointment on February 15, 2020.
