GOVERNOR REFUSES TO SIGN DISSOLUTION OF PARLIAMENT, MINISTERS AND PARLIAMENTARIANS TO FACE OFF IN COURT FOR NEW ELECTIONS

Just receive an inbox. The governor is refusing to sign Prime Minister Marcel Gumbs’ request for an Article 59 dissolution of Parliament. Although it appears to be in the right of the Council of Ministers to use article 59, Parliament and the new Majority are of course against it. Parliamentarian Sarah Wescot Williams stated in yesterday’s papers that a Council of Ministers who had been fired, could not then call on the resignation of Parliament, or for Parliament to be resolved.

It appears that the Marcel Gumbs Government, and the Ministers intend to take their case to court.

Until then, The St Maarten government remains in limbo
