Kooyman will soon open his first megastore in Barbados. Construction of the construction market started in February and the opening is expected in the first quarter of 2020.
This brings the total number of Kooyman stores to seven, spread across the entire Caribbean region. Kooyman is active in Curaçao, Aruba, Bonaire and Sint Maarten. A total of 550 permanent employees work there.
The company leans on CIBC FirstCaribbean for its financing and for an operational credit line. In total that is USD 20 million. The total investment including stocks is $ 40 million.
The location is set up according to the existing concept of the same design and dimensions as Kooyman Jan Noorduynweg and Kooyman Aruba with the well-known store and drive thru.
The entire site covers approximately 32,000 square meters in an area called Kendal Hill in southeastern Barbados. The site there will provide work for an estimated 100 full-time employees in the first instance, of which a number of crucial management officials come from the existing organization.
