BAD WEATHER PARALYZES SEARCH
The father of the Puerto Rican pilot who was a victim of the plane crash in St Maarten, has left this afternoon to the neighboring island in order to be present during the search rescue efforts which is being conducted currently by the local authorities, accord to the press spokesperson for the State Department, Isadora Hernandez.
However, it has been confirmed by an official with the Rescue Coordination Center, that they are paralyzed at the moment in their rescue efforts because of the inclement weather, which they are confronted with in St Maarten. Their efforts are also being affected by the sea swells.
Before that had been determined, this newspaper () spoke to the Dutch Curacao Coast Guard Services Goedemeur Roderick, and mentioned the possibilities of halting the search.
According to Hernandez the Boricua pilot’s father was offered any government assistance by Secretary of State, David Bernier in all procedures and processing that he will be facing following the accident.
He said that the berieved father did not want it to be known the village of origin of the pilot, and did not want to be contacted by the press.
.The cargo plane, piloted by Lopez and by German, Eric Schnell, crashed at about 6:48 pm Wednesday to two or three miles off the coast of St. Martin.
Schnell’s body was found shortly after the incident, at about 10:20 pm, between Mullet Bay and Cupecoy Beach. Lopez, however, has yet to be found (NOTE: as of present it is unverified that the other body has been found)
The director of the Bureau of Aviation of the Port Authority, Rolando Padua, said: “The information I have is that a plane load SHORTS SD3-60 company Skyway Enterprises, FedEx carrier, flight number 7101, taking off from Princess Juliana International airport St Martin airport bound for Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, lost engine power and brakes, so it could not finish the process off and ended up in the sea. The supposed flight left at 6:33 pm and arrive at Puerto Rico at 7:28 pm This flight usually most weekdays happens. ”
This newspaper contacted the FedEx company in its customer service division. The attendant said he could only confirm that there was an accident with an aircraft company, but could not provide information about the crew.
Last night it emerged that the aircraft brought to Puerto Rico a load of groceries.

Sin rastro de piloto boricua tras estrellarse avión en San Martín
Paralizan labores de búsqueda por mal tiempo

El padre del piloto boricua accidentado en San Martín saldrá esta tarde a la vecina isla para estar presente durante los esfuerzos de búsqueda que realizan las autoridades locales, informó la portavoz de prensa del Departamento de Estado, Isadora Hernández.
No obstante, la funcionaria confirmó que el Centro de Coordinación y Rescate determinó paralizar por el momento los trabajos de rescate de Rigoberto López debido a las inclemencias del tiempo que se enfrentan en San Martín. Detalló que son las marejadas lo más que afecta.
Previo a darse a conocer la determinación, este diario conversó con el portavoz de prensa de la región de Curazao del Servicio de Guardacostas holandés, Goedemeur Roderick, y mencionó la posibilidad de detener la búsqueda.
En cuanto al piloto boricua, Hernández indicó que el secretario de Estado, David Bernier, conversó con su padre y le ofreció toda la asistencia del gobierno en los trámites y procesos que pudieran surgir tras el accidente.
Señaló que el hombre no autorizó a dar información sobre el pueblo de procedencia ni deseaba ser contactado por la prensa.
La avioneta de carga, pilotada por López y el alemán Eric Schnell, se estrelló a eso de las 6:48 p.m. del miércoles a dos o tres millas de la costa de San Martín.
El cadáver de Schnell fue encontrado poco después del incidente, a eso de las 10:20 p.m., entre la bahía Mullet y la playa Cupecoy. De López, sin embargo, aún no se tiene rastro.
El director del Negociado de Aviación de la Autoridad de Puertos, Rolando Padua, indicó que “la información que tengo es que un avión con carga SHORTS SD3-60 de la compañía Skyway Enterprises, operadora de FedEx, con número de vuelo 7101, despegando del aeropuerto Princess Juliana International Airport de San Martín con destino al Aeropuerto Internacional Luis Muñoz Marín, perdió poder en los motores y los frenos, por lo que no pudo terminar el proceso de despegue y terminó en el mar. El vuelo se supone salía a las 6:33 p.m. y que llegaría a Puerto Rico a las 7:28 p.m. Este vuelo comúnmente ocurre la mayoría de los días de la semana”.
Este diario se comunicó con la compañía FedEx, en su división de Servicio al Cliente. La operadora señaló que solo podía confirmar que ocurrió un accidente con un avión de la empresa, pero que no podía ofrecer información relacionada a los tripulantes.
Anoche trascendió que el avión traía a Puerto Rico una carga de comestibles.
