NO MORE FLIGHTS BETWEEN THE NETHERLANDS ANTILLES AND CANADA. EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY!
TORONTO – The major Canadian airlines immediately discontinued their flights to the Netherlands Antilles and other sun destinations in the Caribbean and Mexico. Prime Minister Trudeau’s government has therefore asked to prevent Canadians from still going on vacation and causing corona mutations.
These are Air Canada, WestJet, Sunwing and Air Transat. They will perform the last flights this weekend (there is currently an Air Canada flight on its way from Toronto to Aruba). After that, there will be no more flying, except for repatriation purposes. The flights will be suspended for a period of at least three months.

The Netherlands Antilles are normally very popular among Canadian tourists, especially in winter, but because of the corona crisis this had already become a lot less. Air Canada and WestJet would jointly operate only a handful of flights per week for the next few months.

Tighter travel restrictions
The Canadian government is introducing even more travel restrictions, Prime Minister Trudeau announced on Friday. Returning travelers now have to be tested after arrival as well as before departure and must wait for the result in a quarantine hotel designated by the government. This can take up to three days and is at your own expense (about 2,000 Canadian dollars, according to Trudeau).

Anyone who tests negative must then go to home quarantine for another two weeks. Anyone who tests positive must remain in the quarantine hotel.
