Sint Maarten closes borders for passengers from the US and Europe

From Tuesday March 17, Sint Maarten will close its borders for two weeks for airline and cruise passengers from Europe, America and Canada. Residents of Sint Maarten and Saint Martin are welcome, the government announced on Sunday.

Passengers from the Caribbean region are also welcome on Sint Maarten, unless they have been in an area where corona reigns in the past three weeks. Earlier, the government decided to postpone the carnival on Sint Maarten, which was scheduled from April 16 to May 4, to prevent the risk of corona infections.

The Prime Minister of Sint Maarten, Silveria Jacobs, emphasizes that no infection with the virus has been detected on the island and that there is sufficient food and drink, so that hoarding is not necessary.h
