Spirit Airlines inks MOU for 100+50 A320neo Family jets

Spirit Airlines (NK, Fort Lauderdale Int’l) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) for the purchase of 100 A320neo Family aircraft, together with the option to purchase up to 50 additional aircraft.

According to a statement, subject to finalisation, the MOU includes a mix of A319neo, A320neo, and A321neo jets. Deliveries of the aircraft are planned through 2027.

“This new order represents another milestone for Spirit,” Spirit Airlines’ President and CEO Ted Christie said. “The additional aircraft will be used to support Spirit’s growth as we add new destinations and expand our network across the U.S, Latin America and the Caribbean.”

According to the ch-aviation fleets advanced module, Spirit operates thirty-one A319-100s, sixty-four A320ceo, fifteen A320neo, and thirty A321ceo. In 2020 and 2021, Spirit anticipates taking delivery of forty-eight A320neo.

It serves 73 cities across the United States as well as Mexico, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Colombia, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Honduras, Haiti, Costa Rica, the US Virgin Islands, Sint Maarten, Panama, and Guatemala.
