THE NEW PRESIDENT OF THE CENTRAL BANK RESIGNED

WILLEMSTAD, PHILIPSBURG – The recently appointed president of the Central Bank of Curacao and St. Maarten (CBCS), Bob Traa, resigned due to personal circumstances.

Traa made the announcement in writing on November 28, 2019 to the Supervisory Board of the Central Bank (Supervisory Board).

In a press release, the Supervisory Board says it regrets, but respects Traa’s decision.

In the short time he served as President of the Central Bank of Curacao and Sint Maarten, Traa meant a lot to the bank, the Supervisory Board said in its press release.

“Traa, for example, has given more importance to the development of macroeconomic issues with specific attention to the specificities of each of the countries of Curaçao and Sint Maarten due to their extensive knowledge and experience. Through his management style, he managed to gather colleagues from different disciplines and involve them in the decision-making process. He knew how to handle the many challenges the Bank faces. It was in a friendly way and with respect to colleagues «.

Traa will resign from his position on December 31, 2019. The Supervisory Board indicates that they will seek a replacement and communicate it at the appropriate time.
