Eastern Caribbean COVID-19 Status
Due to the increasing number of cases of COVID-19 in the Eastern Caribbean, many countries have strengthened measures to combat the further spread of the virus. We urge American Citizens to adhere to the country’s laws, regulations and health protocols in effect.
Countries in the Eastern Caribbean have put into place travel restrictions and other health-related measures to include mandatory health screening. Many countries require advance COVID testing with valid negative test results prior to arrival, testing upon arrival and retesting after a certain number of days. Arriving travelers may also be subject to mandatory quarantine and/or monitoring which may be restricted to a government designated facility or an officially approved accommodation only.
*** Effective January 26, all airline passengers to the United States ages two years and older must provide a negative COVID-19 viral test taken within three calendar days of travel. Alternatively, travelers to the U.S. may provide documentation from a licensed health care provider of having recovered from COVID-19 in the 90 days preceding travel. Saint Martin

COVID-19 Testing
- Are PCR and/or antigen tests available for U.S. citizens in Saint Martin? Yes
- If so, are test results reliably available within 72 hours? Yes
- To obtain a COVID-19 test in St. Martin, please visit biopoleantilles.fr. Testing is available Mon – Fri 7am – 12pm & 2-5pm and Sat 7am –12pm.

Humanitarian exemptions to this order will be granted on an extremely limited basis and will only be considered when the country of departure lacks adequate COVID-19 testing capacity. To submit information in support of an exemption, email BridgetownACS@state.gov.
COVID-19 Vaccine Information:
- Has the government of Saint Martin approved a COVID-19 vaccine for use? Yes
- The United States Government does not plan to provide COVID-19 vaccinations to private U.S. citizens overseas. Please follow host country developments and guidelines for COVID-19 vaccination.
Entry and Exit Requirements:
- Are U.S. citizens permitted to enter? Yes
- The border between Dutch Sint Maarten and French Saint Martin re-opened on September 15. Travelers should visit https://www.st-martin.org/us/ or write to the French-Saint Martin authorities directly at covid19pref@saint-barth-saint-martin.gouv.fr for more information.
- Is a negative COVID-19 test (PCR and/or serology) required for entry? Yes
- If traveler is arriving at Princess Juliana Airport (SXM), a negative rt-PCR test performed within 120 hours prior to departure to Sint Maarten (last leg in case of connecting flights) is required for all travelers originating from a country that is categorized as high or moderate risk.
- Passengers arriving at Grand Case L’Esperance Airport must carry out a PCR test 72 hours before their departure. Travelers must also present a sworn statement that they have no symptoms and that they are not aware of having been in contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the 14 days preceding the flight. Airlines are required to deny boarding to passengers who do not present the 72 hour negative PCR test and the sworn statement.

Movement Restrictions:
- Is a curfew in place? No
- Are there restrictions on intercity or interstate travel? Yes
- With the exception of travel to/from St. Barthelemy and Dutch Sint Maarten, travel is prohibited unless it is based on an overriding personal or family reason, an emergency health reason or a professional reason that cannot be postponed.
- Travelers must present to the maritime carrier or the airline, before boarding, one or more supporting documents as well as a sworn statement of the reason for travel available here.
Quarantine Information:
- Are U.S. citizens required to quarantine? Yes
- A seven (7) day quarantine is required on arrival. A repeat PCR test must be taken at the end of the 7 day quarantine.

- Ferries are available to Saint Barthélemy.
- Ferries to Anguilla are suspended.
Fines for Non-Compliance:
- Wearing a mask is mandatory in closed public places. Failure to wear a mask may result in a fine of 135 euros.
