AN ANALYSIS OF THE INSTRUCTION GIVEN TO THE GOVERNOR BY THE DUTCH edwin gumbs

The instruction to Governor drs. Eugène Holiday is a working order. Please bear in mind that Drs. Eugène Holiday is a paid Dutch public servant. This extra screening process has absolutely no legal basis in Sint Maarten, unless the candidate ministers in an effort to prove they have nothing to hide or fear agree to it, and decide to allow themselves to be screened by another Dutch public servant specially send to Sint Maarten to conduct this extra screening process. Then it becomes a voluntarily mutually agreed activity. And as I write this article, I am afraid that this is exactly what’s happening with this illegally imposed extra screening. The instruction to the governor is an insult to the people of Sint Maarten, a brutal interference by the Dutch, considering the outcome of our democratic held elections of August 29th 2014. But they’re playing it smart with the rhetorical question “You don’t have anything to hide, do you? So why not undergo that extra screening?” And the media is portraying this extra screening as an in depth criminal investigation of persons, which is absolutely not the case. I must say that I have heard so many people use this terminology regarding this instruction to the governor. It mainly came out of the opposition’s camp. People who should know better, but simply decide to deceive the people of Sint Maarten because of their own personal frustrations or long carried grudges against let me say it clearly, the Wathey family. And this played exactly into the Dutch’s plans, who wants to get back at Sint Maarten for having the audacity to place a monument in front of Government Building of the person they incarcerated Dr. Claude Wathey. This statue is seen by the Dutch as a personal insult. And the Dutch now intends to settle the score once and for all by going after the grandson Mr. Theo Heyliger, political leader of the UPP. And of course there are many people here in Sint Maarten that would like to see this done, who are already enjoying the idea that the score is going to be settled. Let me state my position very clearly here, I am a political analyst who knows the Dutch very well and that’s why I am analyzing the bigger picture of this illegal instruction to the governor. I have no personal ties whatsoever with the family Wathey. But let me continue to argue why it’s illegal and even unethical. You cannot impose a working instruction on a public servant who has no legal authority to execute that extra screening as demanded by the Dutch Government. Nor does the Dutch Government have that legal authority. As I’ve stated before, the only way to get this done is by maneuvering the candidate ministers into accepting this.
And that’s why I call it illegal and unethical, some might even say immoral. I know the political European Dutch mind and I can analyze it. The instruction to the governor was a two way working tool. It was meant on the one hand for the Dutch local politicos to quiet down the extreme right wing conservative rhetoric in Dutch Parliament and within the Dutch community. And as explained before, on the other hand to settle an old score with the Wathey family by insulting the Sint Maarten people and not respecting the outcome of a democratic election held on August 29
th 2014 on Sint Maarten. It really saddens me to know that there are people here on Sint Maarten who is willing for their personal reason to sanction this undemocratic interference with our internal local affaire.
I must say that these days this one book is constantly on my mind: ‘Herman Wouk’ “Don’t stop the carnival”. I would recommend each one of you to read that book and so come to understand a little better these mechanisms that are used by the Dutch and their local ‘agents’ I would say.
Let me end by repeating that basically this instruction to the governor is illegal, unethical immoral, but once sanction by the candidate ministers become a voluntarily mutually agreed activity.
I would have hoped that our candidate ministers didn’t fall in this trap, but I am afraid they in their urge to proof themselves have already done so. Oh my sweet Sint Maarten how I pity us to have been trampled on and disrespected and insulted, how I pity us.
