CBCS Central Bank Curacao Sint Maarten: “No Urgency At The Moment Concerning Investment Policy

The investment policy is regularly part of an external review “

The investment policy of the CBCS is of course an interesting and important topic, but there is no urgency at all at the moment.

This has been announced by the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (CBCS) in response to questions from the Antilliaans Dagblad in response to Parliamentary questions from MFK member Charles Cooper to outgoing Minister of Finance Kenneth Gijsbertha (MAN) about the alleged intention of the CBCS to sell some of the gold stock.
,, The investment policy is regularly part of an external review to ensure that the reserve management of the CBCS remains state of the art. This is a continuous process ”, explains the communication department of the Central Bank in Scharloo.
The CBCS does not say anything more about it at this stage, although this newspaper has since asked a whole series of questions (see elsewhere on this page), because – according to the Central Bank – the questions have been put to the outgoing Minister of Finance. ‘through an official letter’.
,, The minister will answer these questions in accordance with national ordinance. We therefore do not consider it appropriate for the CBCS to answer these questions via the media in anticipation of its answers. ” Thus the short statement to the editor.
This buys the CBCS time, because in his answer to the States’ questions, Minister Gijsbertha will undoubtedly request information from the Central Bank in his turn.
In his questions, MFK MP Cooper gives the impression that he has information that would show that the CBCS, on the instruction of the supervisory board (SB), approached the International Monetary Fund (IMF) with regard to advice on how best the gold supply (or – and that is much more obvious – part of it) can be sold.
According to the most recent data available to the public, namely the Summary Balance Sheet at the end of February 2021, the value of the gold reserves of Curaçao and Sint Maarten amounts to NLG 1,311.5 million (slightly more than 1.3 billion).

But that value fluctuates, and sometimes greatly, proves the same balance. Because in one month, the value had fallen by 91 million compared to the end of January 2021. In January, too, there was a decrease compared to December 2020.
The most recent highest level of the value was in mid-last year, at the end of July. 2020, reached with 1,478.6 million on the balance sheet of the CBCS. The explanation at the time was that the continued rise in the market value of gold is caused by the sharp deterioration of the world economy as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and geopolitical tensions; the demand for gold then increases, as it is considered a “safe haven” during turbulent economic conditions.

Guilder pegged to dollar
In his letter, Cooper – currently Member of Parliament, but named as future minister in the Pisas cabinet (MFK-PNP) – to be formed – indicates that the Dutch- The Antillean guilder has been linked to the US dollar on the basis of the gold and foreign exchange reserves with a fixed exchange rate since 1971.
The fact that Cooper, as a prominent member of the new coalition to be formed, is asking these questions and expressing his concern, partly in connection with the stability of the guilder, indicates that the future government wishes to stay far from the sale of ‘the silverware’.
This is a reassuring thought for many at a time when the Curaçao government – in addition to the liquidity support from the Netherlands that attaches conditions to this – is eagerly looking for cash. It was also stated that Curaçao has enough money, including references to reserves and the General Pension Fund Curaçao (APC).

Additional questions
The Antilliaans Dagblad asked the Central Bank CBCS some additional questions in response to the concise answer:

Can the CBCS confirm that there is (again) an IMF mission? How many is this in a short time?
And can the CBCS confirm that in the context of this IMF mission, consideration has been given to changing the investment policy and a possible partial sale of the gold stock?
Has any of the gold stock ever been sold in the past 50 years?
And, can the CBCS (in general) say something about the pros and cons of selling (part of) the gold stock? With regard to the valuation of the NAf (guilders), but also what possible signal this sends out and the effect on confidence?
Should it come to the point that part of the gold stock is sold, who decides? The Executive Board (EB), the Supervisory Board (SB) and / or d

Opinion Zihni Özdil: All my life I have been opposed by white progressive Dutch people

Young immigrants in the Netherlands must free themselves from the poisonous stranglehold of white progressive Netherlands, argues Zihni Özdil.

‘On paper it is indeed VWO advice. But your son is an immigrant, Mr Özdil, he will have a hard time. Let’s start with HAVO slowly. ‘ I will never forget that conversation with my PvdA-voting Rotterdam school principal in group 8. Luckily my dad was articulate. And after a lot of arguing, we still walked away with VWO advice.

This formative episode in my life passed like a flashback when I read Hilde Roothart’s opinion piece in this newspaper [ de Volkskrant , agb]. “The language is being colonized by a homogeneous group of Northern European, white, male and elitist people,” she writes in response to the fuss about Hull University’s plans to stop demanding flawless language. Because that would hinder students of color.

Correct grammar and correct spelling are discriminatory, is the story of the white, progressive Roothart . To support her argument, she agrees with the white male philosophers Ludwig Wittgenstein and Ferdinand de Saussure.

Roothart’s world view does not stand alone, but illustrates a broader problem. Thanks to her opinion piece, I finally have the courage to open up about it: if I put it all together, the only honest conclusion is that I have been opposed all my life by white progressive Dutch people. When I was teaching history at university, I was asked by my progressive leftist leader to come to a mosque for an iftar dinner. The fact that I politely declined was a great shock that kept the mutual relationship permanently cooled. I can give many more examples of this progressive bigotry of low expectations. Which I have experienced absurdly at the top of the Dutch academia, mass media and politics.

In the meantime, it was thanks to my Christian, conservative Dutch teacher at the Erasmiaans Gymnasium, who measured me just as high as the rest, that as the grandson of a goatherd, I am devoid of language errors. It was also thanks to the right-wing liberal Prof. Henri Beunders, who judged me on what I could do instead of on my origins, that for the first time in my life I got a job that required more thinking than taking courses.

Pathetic and grateful / I can go on for many more pages with examples of how the ‘right-wing’ Netherlands respected me as a person. Even when they are against me, right-wing people say it to my face. What a contrast with white progressive Netherlands. For them, formulated somewhat but not very exaggeratedly, the only good immigrant is the immigrant who is pathetic and grateful. Because they can not only protect them, but also use them.

For example, in this newspaper Roothart bills himself as a ‘master student of crossover creativity’. In the meantime she suggests in  de Volkskrant  that young people of color do not need to speak and spell Dutch well. Nice and progressive: keep immigrants away from the emancipation that you allow yourself.

In 2021, life in the Netherlands will be precarious for anyone who does not have an obvious background. Under the yoke of the loan system and the continued flexibilization of the labor market, it is mainly young people who are the victim of the short straw. Young people of color, the statistics show, even more so.

I therefore appeal to all young immigrants in the Netherlands: pry yourself completely free from the poisonous stranglehold of white progressive Netherlands. Free yourself from their bigotry of low expectations. If necessary, study law in Leiden. Join the student body. Broaden your horizons and build character. Go for real emancipation.

Turn your back to types like Roothart who want to keep you so small that they don’t even allow you the Dutch language anymore. https://werkgroepcaraibischeletteren.nl/mijn-hele-leven-ben-ik-tegengewerkt-door-witte-progressieve-nederlanders/

Police issues final warning to reckless scooter riders

Police issues final warning to reckless scooter riders

SINT MAARTEN (PHILIPSBURG) – The Police Force of St. Maarten (KPSM) will not tolerate scooter riders who use the roads of St. Maarten recklessly endangering the lives of other road users and causing damage to public and private property.

Should scooter riders choose to flaunt road and safety rules, they will suffer the consequences of the law when caught by Police.

Scooter riders exhibiting reckless behavior will be stopped by Police and have their scooters impounded.

Over the past months, several warnings about reckless scooter riding have been issued by Police. This final warning comes as a recent surge in youngsters riding scooters recklessly on busy streets has been noted by authorities.

Scooter riders have become more brazen and callous. They seem to get a kick out of riding recklessly between other vehicles while blowing their horns as they drive through slow moving traffic. It is evident that these scooter riders have no regard for the traffic rules nor respect for other road users.

The Police Traffic Department has dealt with several serious accidents involving scooters in the past week. Scooter riders and passengers were severely injured in several of these accidents. All scooter and motorcycle riders and passengers are urged by Police to wear helmets.

Most of the scooter accidents are due to the epidemic of risky behavior shown by some scooter riders. (KPSM)

St Maarten Has A New Minister Of BAS Omar Ottley. I WILL NOT Congratulate Him, Until I See Him In Person

Everyday the politicians post articles, and every media house publishes them, except me. If I believe it is relevant, I will post. Most of the message coming from politicians are propaganda and lies.

Minister of VSA Omar Ottley

Minister of VSA Omar Ottley

SINT MAARTEN (PHILIPSBURG) – Former Member of Parliament for the United People’s Party Omar Ottley has taken the oath of office as the new Minister of Public Health Social Development and Labour.

The UP Board issued a press release congratulating Minister Ottley on his appointment.

“We extend heartfelt congratulations to you on being appointed to this most prestigious position. At a time when our country still struggles to contend with economic fallouts and loss of life from the Corina Virus, we believe your dedication and commitment to truth, honesty and integrity, will be a guiding force that makes the difference for all of the people on St. Maarten.”

Minister Ottley joins the Council of Ministers in the UP Party/National Alliance Government, replacing outgoing Minister for UP Richard Panneflek.

The UP Party’s release also sang high praises for Minister Panneflek. “We thank you on behalf of the people of St. Maarten for your tireless efforts to keep us safe. The UP Party and the people of St. Maarten will never forget your stellar performance during “the most challenging time in the history of St. Maarten when the entire world was on lockdown.”

Minister Panneflek worked tirelessly over the past year to ensure that the necessary measures were in place for the protection, health and safety of the people of St. Maarten. His efforts include instituting measures that would allow the safe return of visitors to St. Maarten.

President of the UP Party Francisco La Croes said the appointment of Minister Omar was well deserved. “He was the party’s’ third-highest vote-getter in the Snap general elections were held on 9 January 2020 and ran his campaign on the need to improve the social wellbeing of the people. I believe in the still difficult times ahead, he will navigate through the challenges and give hope to a brighter future for our people.”

At a time when the world still had reservations over the use of the rapid testing method to determine whether or not individuals were carriers of the coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes the disease known as COVID-19, Minister Ottley, then Member of Parliament MP Ottley, purchased test kits with help from local businesses to get the country the support needed to detect the virus at a faster rate.

Today that method of “Rapid Testing” is now being accepted globally as a means of detecting the virus.

President of Parliament and Leader of the UP Party MP Rolando Brison was also quoted in the press release singing the praises of Minister Ottley. He said, “We are very proud that the person who we had originally nominated as Minister of VSR today has sworn in to do his duty for St. Maarten.”

“Due to circumstances beyond our control, it had appeared for a moment that MP Ottley would not be able to take up his position at the time. For that reason, I as leader of the party had taken up the mantle and began screening however just around when my screening was completed; we were informed that MP Ottley was able to swear in as Minister. As a result, we decided to allow the original candidate Minister Ottley take up his rightful post as Minister of VSR while I remain as President of Parliament,” said MP Brison.

Council of Ministers tour Trust Fund project sites

SINT MAARTEN (PHILIPSBURG) – On Friday, April 16, the National Recovery Program Bureau (NRPB) hosted the Council of Ministers on an excursion to visit several activity project sites being executed under the Dutch sponsored Sint Maarten Trust Fund.

The trip, which touched on all seven projects currently being implemented by the National Recovery Program Bureau, allowed the Ministers to receive a first-hand impression of both ongoing and completed projects. The tour began with presentations on digital government improvements, an integrated social registry system and support to small businesses, including a testimonial of one of the recipients of the Enterprise Support Project. The selected beneficiary shared his experiences, appreciation and future goals for his business venture with the Ministers. Next, the delegation visited the Philipsburg Jubilee Library, Sr. Regina Primary School, the Simpson Bay Community Center, the shipwreck salvaging shipyard, the Airport and the Met Office’s newly repaired radiosonde building. At each stop the Ministers were given a brief tour by the project’s team.

Throughout the tour, the Minsters asked a number of questions pertaining to project challenges, opportunities and the timing of the activities. While the Ministers agreed that works were progressing well, they strongly reiterated the desire for the works to be accelerated wherever possible. “The responsibility of the reconstruction and recovery of the Country ultimately lies with the Minister of General Affairs and as such, this tour is an extension of the frequent meetings and updates between my office, the full Council and the NRPB. My fellow Ministers and I found it necessary and ultimately very beneficial to be able to meet with the different project teams and see first-hand the advancements of these projects.” Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs remarked.

“As an institution established as an independent entity, the NRPB prides itself in how we execute our duties on behalf of the Government of St. Maarten.” Director of the NRPB, Claret Connor, disclosed. “The project teams were delighted to showcase their areas of responsibility and provide additional explanation to the ongoing works, processes and procedures. We will continue to carry out our duties and responsibilities with the same zeal and passion as we progress.”

The Sint Maarten Trust Fund is financed by the Government of the Netherlands, managed by the World Bank, and implemented by Sint Maarten’s National Recovery Program Bureau on behalf of the Government of Sint Maarten. PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – Everything started with the case of Colin Kristensen, a 59-year- old Scotsman, who was arrested for possession of child porn and for sexual assault on several minors.

His crimes were allegedly committed between May and December 2017.

There is a pending court case against Kristensen for the possession of child porn and for sexual assault on several minors.

The defendant is currently detained at the Pointe Blanche prison. The case first appeared in court on Wednesday, March 21, 2018. Kristensen, who had the bottom part of his left leg amputated, appeared on crutches in the courtroom.

The case was subsequently postponed until May 30, 2018.

On Wednesday, May 30, 2018, the case came to court again as was scheduled earlier in March after its initial postponement. On May 30, the Court in First Instance moved the child porn and sexual assault trial against Kristensen to Wednesday, September 19, 2018.

Further charges against Kristensen that came to light were possession of a Molotov cocktail and cocaine and fencing jewelry.

Information reaching 721news roomreport that from the investigation of this porn case the “WHALE” case was born. The suspect Kristensen gave a statement that the jewelry he was fencing belonged to Detective Gerardus and other accomplices.

The investigation team then split the case and started with the one called “Whale,” since the beginning of this year they have questioned different persons of interest in this particular case.

On Tuesday, July 3, 2018 in the early morning hours, the investigating team consisting of Lands Recherché, RST, Prosecutor’s Office and the Judge of Instruction moved in on two locations. One was the home of detective Jerry Gerardus located across Zo Zo Moran Road in Cole Bay, and the other was at an apartment complex on Wellington Road.

According to the Public Prosecutor, the suspect Jerry Gerardus is allegedly accused of being bribed, forging documents and breach of confidentiality.

The investigating team is also looking to see if the jewelry may have come from possible past armed robberies on jewelry stores.

At the moment of his arrest, Gerardus was not working for the Police force, but was executing his duty as Advisor to the Cabinet of the Prime Minister.

The prosecutor said more arrests are possible.

The Public Prosecutor issued a Press Release, which you can read below:

One-legged paedo diamond thief on the run to Scotland ‘to get fake leg fixed’

A one-legged paedophile diamond thief wanted in the Caribbean has fled to Scotland after claiming he needed to get his false limb fixed.

Predator Colin Kristensen has refused to return to the billionaires’ playground of Sint Maarten where he was convicted of abusing a six-year-old girl and looting jewels as part of a corruption scandal that rocked the West Indian paradise island.

The 62-year-old expat is back on the streets of Glasgow claiming he needs to stay on for medical treatment. But authorities in the Dutch territory have now issued a warrant for his arrest and alerted Interpol in a bid to haul him back to face justice.

Police Scotland swooped to put him on the sex offenders’ register to limit the danger he poses to children here while extradition papers are prepared.

A source close to the case said: “His crimes prove just what a devious, dangerous and morally bankrupt individual Kristensen is. I’d imagine Scotland will be quite glad to get rid of him.

“Every time he is supposed to be back in Sint Maarten, another excuse is rolled out. The suspicion is he has no intention of ever returning and doing his time.

“The court gave Kristensen the benefit of the doubt in allowing him to leave for Scotland for medical treatment but patience has run out. If he won’t come back of his own accord, he’ll be dragged back kicking and screaming.”

Kristensen ran a yachting technology supply company called Advanced Marine Systems with bases in Florida and Sint Maarten – which is one half of a Caribbean isle split in two between France and Holland.Home to 40,000 people, it is a hotspot for the mega-rich.

In 2015, Kristensen received a suspended sentence for Tasering his ex-wife’s new boyfriend but further claims of child abuse were made and police began an investigation.

He started bribing senior cop Jerry Gerardus – an adviser to the isle’s prime minister – with money and holidays in return for information about the inquiries.

The bent officer also forged a document to try to put the paedophile in the clear. But their web of corruption began to unravel in the wake of Hurricane Irma in September 2017, which left a £2billion trail of devastation.

Police were tipped off that the day after the island was left in ruins, the pair had conspired to steal diamonds from the rubble of a jeweller’s shop. The haul turned out to be fake.

Gerardus – who subsequently received a three-year sentence – was busted in July 2018 and Kristensen was lifted days later.

The sex offender was jailed for seven years in February 2019 for abusing the girl, distributing child porn images of his victim and other
unidentified girls and fencing the faux jewels. He was also locked up for bribery and another Taser assault.

Kristensen denied the offences from 2015 to 2017 but admitted a further charge of possessing cocaine. He lodged an appeal but remained behind bars until December 2019 when jail doctors diagnosed him with a slipped disc, which had been made worse by his homemade false leg.

The predator was given a five-month free pass from jail to jet to Scotland for spinal surgery and a new false limb – but he failed to return. Police Scotland were alerted to the paedophile’s presence and won an order from Glasgow Sheriff Court in August, forcing him to join the sex offenders’ register.

He was granted a deadline extension till last month to return to jail in the Caribbean. But Sint Maarten courts ran out of patience at the latest hearing, via videolink, on December 11.

Kristensen’s appeal is due to be heard in April. https://uk-database.net/2021/01/03/colin-kristensen-glasgow/
