Corona vaccines sent from the Netherlands have already arrived on St. Maarten, St. Eustatius and Saba on Friday afternoon local time. Earlier this week, Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao received the first shipments of vaccines. Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao and St. Maarten have received Pfizer vaccines and Saba and St. Eustatius Moderna vaccines.
Aruba has immediately started vaccinating, the other islands will start after the weekend. On Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao and Sint Maarten, people over 60 and care workers are first given an injection.
Saba and St. Eustatius want to vaccinate all adults in a short time. On Saba, 1,200 adults have already registered for this out of a total population of about 2,000 people. On St. Eustatius the enthusiasm is much less and only slightly more than 400 of the more than 3,000 inhabitants have registered. As soon as a large part of the population has been vaccinated, tourism can also get going again.
